Biography
Education
Theodore Coresi had a classical education while he studied acting and directing with Prof. Cornel Nicoara and A. Lazar. From 1978 to 1983 he studied at the Bucharest Music Academy majoring in Vocal Performance (lieder, oratorium and opera). In 1983 he passed the National Diploma Examination with honours. Then he studied in Roma, Wien and Bucharest with Boris Christoff, Luigi Infantino, Giuseppe Taddei, Hubert Deutsch, Nicolae Herlea and Agnes Ivan.

Sarastro in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”
Lindorf, Coppelius, Dapertutto, Mirakel in Offenbach’s “Tales of Hoffmann“
“Der Bauer” in Orff’s “Die Kluge“
1983 “Prince Gremin” in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” at the Bucharest National Opera, where he was soloist until 1987.
Since 1986, Theodore Coresi had international guest appearances at European Opera and Concert Stages with extremely varied repertory, from baroque through classic and romantic to modern, from intermediate to leading roles, including the following:
Figaro in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (London)
Fiesco in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra (Opera Royal de Wallonie in Liege, Belgium)
Don Basilio in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (Wien State Opera and Leipzig Opera)
Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Teatro Massimo, Palermo and Canadian Opera Company, Toronto)
Geronte di Ravoir in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut (Teatro Sao Carlo, Lisabon)
Main bass roles in Cesti’s Il Pommo d’Oro, in Ziani’s Gesu flagellato, and Mozart’s La Betulia liberata (Spectaculum and Klangbogen Festival in Vienna).
He has taken part to several festivals, among them it could be mentioned: Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Oviedo, Malaga, Wexford and Pamplona, in roles such as Geronte (Manon Lescaut), Ramfis (Aida), Timur (Turandot), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Lothario (Mignon) and Colline (La Boheme), performing with world-famous singers such as Scotto, Dimitrova, Chiara, Cortez, Manuguerra, Herlea, Sardinero, Keith Olsen, Norma Fantini, etc.
Guest assignments at the Staatsoper Wien, Staatsoper Prag, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Canadian Opera Company-Toronto, Teatro Sao Carlo-Lisabon, Oper Leipzig, Wiener Kammeroper, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Bregenz, West Norges Opéra-Bergen, etc.
Several performances with famous orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonics, Gewandhaus, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra under Paul Sacher and Vienna Hofburg Orchestra in Vienna, Linz, Basel and Leipzig.
He has also performed concerts with monumental works such as Verdi’s Messa da Requiem (Spain), Haydn’s The Creation (Paris, Mallorca, Wien and Bucharest), Händel’s The Messiah and Bach’s Passion of St. John (Vienna) and performed Aria and lieder recitals with orchestra and piano in Vienna, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Wexford, Bregenz, Malta, Seoul, Berne, Bucharest, Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, etc.
He has made some Radio and television recording (including live broadcasts) with RTBF (Belgium), ORF (Austria) and TVR (Romania).
He still directs his private voice studio “Opernsänger” in Vienna.
He is member of the “Gesellschaft für Musiktheater” in Vienna since 1987.
He is foreman of the „PRO ARTE“ association for international cultural exchange in Vienna.
Jury-member at international vocal music contests.
Master courses in Italy, Norway, Canada, Romania and Austria.
He is proficient in Italian, French, German and Russian.
Director of arts at the festival "Musical Vacation" at Piatra Neamt, Romania.
